The theme of the work is the human need to define things. Defining requires acts of stopping and placing. But things don’t remain in the places set for them. They move and change their character constantly.
So how do we become assured that things are the way we believe them to be?

The drawings in the exhibition look at the theme from a site-specific point of view. The material and frame draw from the environment we move and live in.
Houses and blocks are covered with memories and images. A familiar environment is an extension of our selves. We regard it as our personal property. The need to define targets our selves and our environment alike.

Despite of all planning, the creature that is the city is uncontrollable. The environment seems to be frozen yet it entails a dazzling moving mass, a potential for change. The current situation is not a necessity. It’s only one of the endless possibilities. The strange and the un-named are present even when hidden.
What happens if in a space something breaks? Is the fracture then in me or on the outside?
