Being in the world demands the act of defining. The configuration requires us to pause, stop and replace. This process cannot really be escaped or viewed from the outside. However, recognizability is not a constant state. Things don’t stay in the places assigned to them. They slide and escape under and over our attributes, slowly and quickly, inevitably.
So how do we become convinced that the world is what we believe it to be? What is the mechanism of persuasion? These questions are at the heart of my work and follow along, at least beneath the surface, from exhibition to exhibition.
