Pessi Rautio: The Seen, p. 23
”Inka-Maaria Jurvanen draws, meticulously, with pencil on wood. The wood may now even be carved in the shape of a painting, with frames and all. Jurvanen seems to be sovereign in playing with all the material that gushes from the visual treasures of the world, and of the human head – combining the unconscious and probably also the very-clearly conscious. The idea of surrealism may be in the background. But these ever-changing images in front of our eyes go beyond that, presenting explanations to cultural concepts, such as Science, Passion, or Moderation, in the manner of wisdoms of the encyclopedia found only in a dream.
